California spearo in France

Je regrette que je ne peux pas parler français. J’espère que vous n’êtes pas offensés si je commence en anglais.

I’m currently traveling through France with my girlfriend and we will be staying in Nice May 11-15. I brought freediving gear and I’m very excited to try diving the Cote d’Azur. I would love to meet up with any spearos in the area for a dive. I did not bring a speargun and I have no expectation of hunting, but if someone is willing to take me out and loan me a gun that would be simply amazing. It sounds like the fish will be smarter than me here but it would be fun to give it a try.

I heard about this site through deeperblue.com, which I heard about through spearboard.com. Your site has been really helpful for finding spots to dive – if no one is able to take me out I’m thinking to try Cap Gros or Cap Martin. Thanks for the great info so far!

About me: I’m 28 and I’m from California (grew up in San Diego, now living near San Francisco). I’ve been spearfishing since I was about 12 years old and I am a total addict. I’ve been lucky to be able to dive some great locations outside California including Hawaii, Indonesia, Guadalupe/Benitos/Cedros Islands (Mexico), Texas and Rhode Island. Currently I’m comfortable diving to about 25m, but shallower is always welcome!

J'ai chasse sous-marine depuis l'âge d'environ 12 ans et je suis un accro totale . J'ai eu la chance de pouvoir plonger quelques grands endroits à l'extérieur de la Californie , y compris Hawaï , l'Indonésie , les îles Guadalupe / Benitos / Cedros (Mexique) , le Texas et le Rhode Island . If you can easily come to Antibes or Cannes (will you rent a car ?), we could go diving on sunday (if you already are in Nice) or Tuesday afternoon. Let me know if ou are interrested.

PS : If I can rely on your youtube channel, I guess you may be a bit disappointed concerning the size and quantity of fish around here...

Thanks Costa, count me in! I think the afternoon of the 11th would be perfect as we will be passing through Antibes on our way to Nice. Just let me know the details. We're renting a car so I have some flexibility on location. I know the fish will be sparse but diving alone is enough for me.
